Trust

Trust
By Stephen newell

He will not let her feel,
No thought, no touch,
Will penetrate their reality.
Like a jealous lover he keeps them out.
No state of chaos here,
But frozen walls keeping them out,
Or her in,
Difficult to tell.

Salt melts away his once strong cube,
Not hers, but his brine tears create unwanted holes.
The seas are coming, what then?
Tide waits for no man,
Eating at the thick ice walls evolved from centuries of mistrust.
Walls decayed and crumbling.

She stands defenceless except for who he is
And what she knows of him,

It is enough.
